Groups of people under a tree

In the north and north-east of Uganda, the aftermath of two decades of civil war between rebels and government troops has not yet been overcome. The war destroyed basic infrastructure, traditional agriculture and led to dependence on emergency aid.

In the Lango region, many villages still have no access to clean water. They rely on streams or hand-dug wells that often carry contaminated water. This fosters diseases.

With your help, together with our local partner, we are building a deep well for five churches in seven villages. In total, about 3000 people will benefit from the water supply. A well with a hand pump will significantly reduce the daily time needed to fetch water.

Currently, households have to make do with 12 litres per person per day. After the construction of the wells, they will have at least 20 litres per person per day at their disposal.
