Water treatment equipment

Today, our workshop on drinking water treatment started in Geita, Tanzania. Interest was so great that we were unfortunately unable to offer a place to everyone who was interested.

The focus is on a simple but effective method: sodium hypochlorite is produced from water, table salt, and electrolysis. This solution has a disinfecting effect – just a few milliliters are enough to turn 20 liters of contaminated water into safe drinking water.

The first day focused on the theoretical basics. Participants took an in-depth look at the chemical processes behind drinking water disinfection. As prior knowledge is required for this, the workshop was specifically aimed at people with relevant educational backgrounds.
