Welcome to the blog of our NGO, which is passionately committed to sustainable water projects in Africa. Millions of people in Africa have no access to clean drinking water, which has a serious impact on health, education and quality of life.
Our mission is to improve access to clean water in affected communities through adapted technologies and sustainable solutions. In our articles, you can find out more about the progress of our projects, the challenges we face and how you can help us create a better future for the people of Africa.
The day before yesterday we arrived in Uganda - about 1.5 hours late due to technical problems with the plane.
Today we installed the hand pump in the borehole. Only stainless steel material was used so that it does not rust and the water always looks fresh and appetising.
First we carried out a pumping test; it lasted just under three hours. The result is good: 2550 litres per hour are available.
A small piece of the aisle to the drilling site still had to be cleared. As soon as this was done, the drilling company arrived with two trucks and the work could begin.
Last night it thundered and rained for hours.
The access road to the drilling site was therefore very soggy. The truck with the drilling rig would have sunk in there. We could not locate the alternative drilling sites because the farmers had removed the markings.
Today the project was completed. The hand pump is now completely installed. With it the pupils and the employees of the primary school can pump fresh, germ-free water from a depth of 60m and drink it directly.
Yesterday water was found in a depth of 60m. Today the work for the installation of the pump was carried out.
After the well has been drilled and cased, the next step is the pumping test. This is used to determine the performance of the aquifer.
Today the drilling works for a well at Sikang Primary School started.
Today our partner GWAKO (GroundWater Abstraction in Kenya) has started the preparations for the construction of the well.
